Two Malaysian high judges resign after Mahathir Mohamad win the election

News24xx.com -  Two Malaysian high judges has been resigned on Wednesday, June 13 2018 following the resignation of the state attorney general and governor of the State Bank following the return of Mahathir Mohamad as the Prime Minister.

A Malaysian court statement said on Wednesday that Chief Justice Raus Sharif and the Chief Justice Zulkefli Ahmad Makinudin will resign on July 1 2018. 

The 92-year-old man surprisingly public after managed to lead the opposition against the coalition government that led by Najib Razak in the general election last month. 


After being the prime minister returns, Mahathir says that he will investigate alleged corruption involving state investment agency, 1MDB.


Under the rule of Najib Razak, the case was not followed up in Malaysia, although being investigated in several countries, such as the United States, Singapore and Switzerland. 

Before, Najib has denied allegations of corruption directed against him or related to 1MDB.


He added that the resignation of both has been approved by the Sultan of Malaysia, which is required for high positions.


Last week the Central Bank of Malaysia's governor, Muhammad Ibrahim, resigned after there is an allegations that the State Bank was assisting the administration to pay part of the debt of the state investment agency.
