The authorities of the Ratanikiri province in the northeast of Cambodia reported, that specially for the visit of the Princess of Thailand Mahi Chakri Sirindorn, was built a toilet, that was never used,- reports AFP.

The area of the toilet room is about eight square meters, inside there is an air-conditioning and a commode. However, the Thai princess only looked at it from the outside and took a few pictures, - the head of the local community told reporters.

According to UNICEF, 61.5% of Cambodians, living in rural areas, don’t have access to toilets and sanitation. This is one of the highest rates in South-East Asia. In this regard, the story of the toilet caused a big resonance in the country.

Cambodian officials reported, that the construction of the restroom was paid by the Thai side, and after the departure of the princess the toilet was dismantled, since it was intended only for members of the royal family.
