Prolonged drought compel many kangaroos come to streets in Australia

News24xx.com -  The prolonged drought in New South Wales (NSW) Australia causes many kangaroos looking for green herbs on the outskirts of the highways. 


That kangaroo act has made the roads being very dangerous for the driver's safety.


At least, there are about 14 million kangaroos in NSW that came to the roads in NSW, and for inexperienced drivers, the sudden of kangaroo leap into the middle of the road,  can gave fatal risk.


That incident occured to a teen named Livinia Evans. She had to stopped her car abruptly, when a kangaroo appeared in the middle of the road suddenly.


Fortunately, despite her car became upside down, but the 18-year-old girl from Cooma City is not suffered serious injury. 

Evans is one of 15 young farmers - who known as jackaroos and jillaroos - who have been trained to driving on the "kangaroo" streets.


The training was conducted by the Outback Hay education program.  According to Sandra Ireson from Hay Inc, the training is meant to teach practical skills when drivers meet with kangaroos. 

 

"We give advise to them not to turn the car and brake," she said. 

 

"If they do, it causes the car will roll over like the incident that happened to Livinia Evans."
