WHO classified the gaming addiction into a mental disorder

News24xx.com -  Playing a games may already be something that we done to fill the leisure or expel our stress after working all day. 

However, you must be careful, because if you already feel addicted to the game, now the World Health Organization (WHO) classifies the game addiction as a mental disorder in International Classification of Diseases (ICD) that called as gaming disorder.


This addiction is related to increased their concerns over internet addiction and video game problems, especially for children and adolescents. 

But this addiction is still being a debat, because its have same level such as alcohol or marijuana addiction, even some internal ailments such as respiratory disease or immune disorders.


In its official website, WHO defines the gaming disorder as "lack of control over game play, increased priority on game play than any other activity to the point of exceeding interest and other daily activities and sustainability or improvement in game play despite negative consequences."


However, the WHO insists that gaming disorder is something that must to be diagnosed and only gives affects for a small group of people who are involved in video or digital gaming activities.


In response to the WHO's decision, Dr Kevin Gilliland, a clinical psychologist mentioned that it is too early for WHO to classify the gaming disorder as a disorder without extensive research.


Dr Gilliland urges the parents not to worry too much about the possibility of addiction to playing games, unless they have reached a substantial level.  As shown through the use of drugs and alcohol and the presence of significant clinical disorders.
