For the first time, Iranian women gained an access to watch football inside the stadium

News24xx.com -  Iranian women flock to Azadi Stadium in Tehran to watched the 2018 World Cup match between Iran against Spain on Wednesday, June 20 2018 evening local time. 


But, the thin defeat of Iran from Spain does not seems so meaningful to Iranian women after they can to celebrating 'fresh air' from the shackles of watching sports games in public places since 1979.


The Tehran provincial council made a late decision on Wednesday morning, June 20 2018.


The decision allows women in Iran to watch their national team matches at the country's biggest stadium.


A female activist in Iran named Ghoncheh Gavani became one of those who present at the stadium. 


" It's very amazing, this is the first time we've seen about 100,000 people in the [Azadi] stadium. And after the game is over, people are still inside the stadium, " Gavani told was quoted from NBC News on Thursday, June 21 2018.


According to the Iranian news agency, the decision to let the women watch in the stadium, only apply to Iran's game against of Spain. However, some women hope this is the first step for a long-term policy.


A group of Iranian women welcomed the decision to enter the sports stadium for years.


Iran is a country that participating in the 2018 World Cup, that prohibits the women from entering the stadium.
