Bali held one-month long multicultural arts festival

News24xx.com - There are people parading the street in front of Bajrasandhi monument in Bali, showcasing different arts and cultures from eight regencies and one city in Bali. The parade in Denpasar on Saturday afternoon marked the opening of Bali Arts Festival.

The festival will be held for one month. Around 3000 artists from all over the island participate in the festival. Other than performances, it also features arts and handicrafts exhibition. The parade was officially opened by President Joko Widodo.

Other than Balinese arts and cultures, the parade also showcased art performances from Japan and Guangxi Province in China. There are also representatives from other provinces like Papua and Nusa Tenggara.

The festival is held annually to show appreciation for Balinese artists. The first Bali Arts Festival was held in 1979. Back then, the Bali governor at that time, Ida Bagus Mantra decided to provide space and funding to promote local culture.
