Hunger doesn’t help to lose excess weightHunger doesn’t help to lose excess weight - As the study showed, practice of hunger will not help get rid of excess weight.

Careful counting of calorie and limiting size of portion are key components of the dietary fasting trend. However, researchers from the US found that this type of eating doesn’t help people lose weight in the long term, and if they really want to get rid of excess weight for a long time, they need to limit the consumption of sugar, processed foods and refined grains. The authors of the reseach also recommend eating more fruits and vegetables.

Scientists divided 600 volunteers into two groups, depending on the type of diet. One of the diets contained a low amount of fat, and the second - a low amount of carbohydrates. Both diets were limited in calories and reduced portion size. It turned out that the participants of both groups lost about four and a half kilograms per year, and some even recovered. And later, many quickly made up for lost kilos, when they stopped limiting themselves in food.

The authors of the study believe that different people need different types of nutrition. It all depends on genetics, susceptibility to fats and carbohydrates, as well as the content of harmful foods in the diet and the ability to adhere to this diet for life.
