News24xx.com - This location became a gathering area of ??several rocks, namely limestone (Karst), Sendimentary Rocks, Metamorphic Rocks and Granite Intrusion. This was conveyed by geologists from the West Sumatera ESDM Service who joined in Geopark Team in Minang land, Dian Hadiyansyah ST, MT, when he was a guest speaker in the preparation of Master Plan Geopark Silokek, at Imelda Hotel Waterpark Convention Center July 6th to 9th.

This tourist area is better known as Geopark Silokek located in Sijunjung district, West Sumatra province. There are many old rocks which about 359 million years old.

In front of other participants, he mentioned, "The geological development plan of Geopark Silokek of Sijunjung Regency has a tremendous potential since it has passed three eras in geological time scale, which is reflected in the rock formation that forms the region."

He explained that the oldest rocks in this region were 359 million years ago consisting of limestone groups (karst), sedimentary rocks, metamorphic rocks and granite intrusions.

"The diversity of these rocks can be an icon for Silokek so this area is not inferior to Geopark National Ciletuh, Sukabumi, West Java which has been set by the government" he said.

Geological potential that is not less interesting in Silokek is vertical cliff of karst (70 meters higher) as a result of the process of tectonic fault  with traces of fault that is still recorded well make this area as a tourist destination that must be visited by every layers of tourists ranging from the general public to the earth scientists.
