Indonesian embassy across the world has the problem to find the chef with the speciality of Indonesian foods

News24xx.com - Indonesian food cooking expert, William Wongso said that it is hard to find a chef that is specialized in Indonesian food these days.

“It is very hard for our embassy to find a chef that is specialized in Indonesian foods. The condition is different from the foods from other countries,” he said during the show Pesona Rendang Nusantara: Mengenal Lebih Dekat Cita Rasa Rendang Indonesia in Podomoro University, Jakarta, July 13th 2018.

Unlike Indonesia, some other countries do not have problem finding chefs that are specialized in their national foods. For example, South Korean foods. Wongso told the story of when the embassy of another country in Indonesia was offering a job as a chef, more than 20 people applied for it and most of them were young people.

Wongso said that they have to do something to make Indonesian youth more interested in learning about Indonesian foods.

“Everyone loves Indonesian foods, especially rendang, unfortunately there are not many Indonesian restaurants in other countries. It is different from Vietnam, whose restaurants even reach 5000 in number all over the world,” William Wongso said.

This is also because it is hard to find ingredients from Indonesia out there. William Wongso said that the government has to try to spread Indonesian ingredients all over the world so it will be easier to get.
