So, if you believe in curses, it’s always going to be a bit of a risk to open an ancient sarcophagus and disturb the spirits within. 


But fearless archaeologists in Egypt, opening up a mysterious black granite sarcophagus and finding three decomposed mummies inside. 

But according to Egyptian media, they action had raised concerns that they could be about to unleash 2,000-year-old vengeance on the city of Alexandria, although it things seem okay so far. 

From the research of archaeologists, the sarcophagus was discovered next to a stone head made of alabaster and was filled with sewer water. The stone casket was found buried 16 feet below ground, and dates from the Ptolemaic period 2,000 years ago. It is made of black granite about 265cm long and 185cm tall. The 30-ton tomb was found five metres underground.

Their identity is still a mystery, although it is possible the alabaster bust was of the tomb’s owner.

And the stone casket was found during construction work for new buildings. But it had laid unopened since it was found 20 days ago.


Now, Ministry of Antiquities of Egypt photos shows workers preparing to open the black granite sarcophagus that was discovered in Sidi Gaber district, Alexandria, Egypt.


So far, there is no indication that there was a curse.
