News24xx.com - Google's parent company, the Alphabet is ready to air in Kenya in 2019. The flying balloon developed in Project Loon will deploy high-speed internet in rural and suburban areas in Kenya.

Loon itself works with local telecommunication company to deploy this high-speed internet. Kenya hopes this technology can provide full internet service for its people.

"We will work very hard with Loon, to provide the first commercial service, as soon as possible, to use the balloon-powered Internet in Africa" said Chief Executive of local telecommunication company (telcom) of Kenya, Aldo Mareuse, as quoted by Reuters on Friday, July 20th 2018

Telcom of Kenya itself is the third largest telecom operator in Kenya, after Safaricom and Airtel. The balloon used by Loon will be powered using an on-board solar panel to deploy 4G internet in areas with low population density, such as rural areas.

This balloon will also float at an altitude of 60,000 feet (18.2 kilometers) above sea level. At this altitude, Loon's balloon will not be disturbed by air traffic, the movement of wild animals such as bird migration, and weather.

Kenya's urban area itself has received internet services provided by telecom operators, but there are still many rural areas in Kenya that have not received similar services. Loon has previously used this technology to provide 250,000 Puerto Rican residents with telecommunications access after being hit by hurricane last year.
