After fleeing from the King of Pharaoh, the prophets of Moses experienced a terrible catastrophe of thirst. The prophet of Moses then commanded by Allah to hit his wand on the rocks.

Then from the rocks was radiate 12 springs that can be drunk by his people. Allah has explained it in the Koran related this matter in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 60

"And (remember) when Moses begged water for his people, then We said:" Hit the rock with your wand. And there came out twelve springs of water. And each tribe has known the drinking place (respectively). Eat and drink that sustenance (given) of God, and you shall not to roam in the earth by doing damage "(Q.S: Al-Baqarah: 60)


Now, from the 12 water springs, only 1 is still water that is bi'r as-syekh which has a depth of up to 40 feet.
