News24xx.com - There are many illegal cosmetics being spread in Indonesia. Some of them are fake, using other brand’s name while replacing the content with some other substances, while some of other are considered dangerous to use.

According to National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM), there are some cosmetic products they deem dangerous. Among them are Temulawak Two Way Cake, New Papaya Whitening Soap, NYX eyebrow pencil, MAC eyebrow pencil, Revlon eyebrow pencil, Collagen Plus Vit E Day and Night Cream, Cream Natural 99, SP Whitening and Anti Acne, Quine Peal Cream, Citra Day Cream, Citra Night Cream and La Widya Temulawak.

In 2018, BPOM has confiscated cosmetics worth 106,9 million Rupiah. Seeing many illegal cosmetics appearing in massive numbers, BPOM concludes that there are many demands of cosmetics all over Indonesia. They ask the civilians to be careful in picking beauty products and not to be tempted with false advertisements or unreasonable prices.

“The millennial generation becomes one of BPOM’s targets because they are the ones who are most familiar with digital world,” said the head of BPOM Penny K. Lukito on Monday, August 13th 2018.

BPOM educated civilians to be able to choose and use safe cosmetics through an event called “The Campaign of the Danger of Cosmetics Containing Forbidden Substance for Millennial Generation,” in Kartini Hall, Jakarta.
