Turns out the profession which suffered HIV the most is housewife, instead of prostitute

News24xx.com - HIV-AIDS is often associated with the profession of commercial sex workers. However, data obtained from the Directorate General of Disease Prevention and Control (Directorate General of P2P) of the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Ministry of Health) shows that the highest profession that have this disease is not the prostitute.

The cumulative number of AIDS reported by type of work up to June 2016 shows that housewives actually the most profession whose suffered AIDS (11,655 people), self-employed (10,565 people), private employees (10,488 people), and sex workers is even lower with only 2,818 people.

While HIV infection predominantly occurs in heterosexuals with the number of 4,672 reports obtained. In this case, housewives are the most vulnerable to exposure to this virus because of their partner's sexual behavior.

"If a sex worker says 'you use a condom, so it's safe. Try that to housewife told that to her husband, 'are you using a condom?' It is more difficult, isnt it?, so it turns out housewives are riskier to suffer from AIDS than other professions" said Dr. Adiyana Esti from Angsa Merah Clinic in Jakarta during the "Prevent Hoax and Media Understanding Facts related to HIV / AIDS in Indonesia" event recently.

She continued, most reports on AIDS cases because housewives also often do not realize that they contracted with HIV virus. So many reports come in when they are already in a state of AIDS.

Therefore to reduce the number of housewives with AIDS, now Ministry of Health of Indonesia promotes HIV-AIDS screening program for pregnant women, which is generally carried out in the second trimester. And also at the same time prevent direct transmission that can occur from pregnant women to the fetus.
