Life in London can be said to be easy and difficult. It's difficult because the cost of living here is relatively higher compared to a number of countries in the world. So, I have to be smart in managing my daily expenses. It's easy because there are lots of interesting places that I can visit, places that previously I could only see on television and the internet.

In order to be able to travel but still save money, I looked for places that could be visited for free. So, from my experience during this six month "adventure", I share the 12 best in my opinion.

1. Walk along the banks of the River Thames

I usually start my journey from Westminster Bridge, where Big Ben stands, then walk along the River Thames. Walking west, you will pass St. Paul, Millennium Bridge, Tate Modern, and Shakespeare's Globe. If you take the opposite direction, you will see the London Eye, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, and The Shard. I never get bored walking along this river.

2. Take photos on Platform 9 ¾

If you are a fan of the Harry Potter series, you are certainly familiar with the magical platform that is the entrance to the magical world of Hogwarts, namely Platform 9 3/4. This very popular wall can be found at King's Cross Station. Often, you need to queue to be able to take photos with this platform as a backdrop and pretend to be one of the students at Hogwarts school of magic.

3. Cross the legendary zebra crossing at Abbey Road

Whether you are a fan of The Beatles or not, Abbey Road is one of the places you must visit when in London. This zebra crossing is very popular because it is the background for the photo of The Beatles on the cover of their eleventh album, Abbey Road. Therefore, many tourists come here to take pictures in the same pose as the legend.

4. Watch the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace

In London, the changing of the guard ceremony can also be an interesting spectacle. This ceremony usually lasts around 45 minutes and is not held every day. You can see the schedule here.

During this ceremony, you can see the palace guards walking from Wellington Barracks to Buckingham Palace. Next, they hand over assignments for the next period.
