News24xx.com -  NASA may still take decades to send astronauts to Mars. But you don't have to wait long or train hard so you can become an astronaut to be able to get a 'ticket' to Mars.

The US space agency invites all people around the world to register their names to be flown to Mars using the Mars 2020 explorer robot. The mission will be launched in the summer of 2020 and land on the planet Red in February 2021.

"As we prepare to launch this historic Mars mission, we want everyone to share in this exploration journey," said NASA's Science Mission Directorate Associate Administrator Thomas Zurbuchen as quoted from Space on Thursday, May 23 2019.

To send your name to Mars, just fill out a simple form before September 30. After that, you will get a souvenir ticket that can be exhibited and also 'frequent flyer' points up to hundreds of millions of kilometers.

Later,  your name will be written using an electron beam above the microchip. Your name will be written in a very small size so that one microchip can accommodate one million names.

NASA is likely to need more than one microchip to meet the booming demand. For the InSight robot mission that landed on the moon last November, NASA also held a similar program that managed to collect more than two million names.
