Simple ways to keep our skin in good health
News24xx.com - There are simple, but overlooked ways, to keep our skin in good health.
Taking care of our skin is highly important as it is one of our body’s largest organs of, and healthy skin is key to protection from harmful elements. There are a lot of skincare advice and it may be confusing to choose which one is good for us. To set the record straight, here is a list of seven tips on skincare that you can try.
1. Clean your skin properly
Cleanse twice, not once, according to Marie Claire. The first cleansing will simply remove all the surface make-up and dirt, while the second cleanses deeper. Proper cleansing produces new skin cells, that will improve your complexion.
2. Remove eye make-up thoroughly
Even if you double-cleanse your face, it is wise to invest in good eye make-up remover. You need a cleanser that is specifically designed for the delicate area around your eyes, to ensure all make-up is removed thoroughly. This will prevent left over make-up from remaining on tiny hair follicles that can cause eye infections.
3. Always wear sunscreen
Sunscreen is to be worn all year round as it can protect your skin from dangerous UV rays radiated by the sun. SPF contained in sunscreen can protect your skin from premature ageing caused by the sun’s UVA and UVB rays.
4. Avoid over-exfoliating
Exfoliation can benefit every skin type, as it exposes fresh skin cells and makes pores appear smaller. However, exfoliating your skin too often is not recommended. Celebrity facial therapist Joanna Vargas told glamour.com that exfoliating every day could strip the skin of its natural oils, which could cause breakouts. Washington, D.C.-based dermatologist Elizabeth Tanzi, M.D. pointed out that exfoliating two to three times a week was good for normal and combination skin, and once a week was ideal for sensitive skin.
5. Drink enough water
Aside from applying moisturizers, our skin can become moist thanks to adequate water intake. Drink six to eight glasses of water a day to ensure your metabolism works well, and good metabolism contributes to hydrated, supple and clearer skin.
6. Get enough sleep
“Slumber is nature’s most powerful beauty treatment,” wrote Fitness Magazine. When we are asleep, our bodies produce a human growth hormone that contributes to collagen production. Hair, face and body products also penetrate better when we are at rest. Getting enough sleep, you will wake up feeling and looking refreshed.
7. Have a proper diet
Glowing skin is a sign of internal organs that function well, which is linked to a healthy and balanced diet. Make sure that your daily intake includes high antioxidants, minerals and vitamins. You might as well consider eating superfoods or use skincare products that contain them. Acerola cherry, with its high vitamin C content, and spirulina extract are known to be packed with vitamins and minerals, for instance.
