News24xx.com - Cockroach is one of the house pests called by the World Health Organization (WHO) could be the cause of diseases ranging from cholera, dysentery, to typhoid fever. Therefore, it is not surprising that we try to eradicate the cockroaches live in our home by using insecticides or insect poisons.

Related to this, a recent study in the journal Scientific Reports found that cockroaches are evolving now, they quickly showed immunity to poisons in insecticides. One species called German cockroach (Blattellagermanica) for example seized the attention of researchers because it is immune to almost all types of insecticides. "We have no clue that something like this can happen" said one researcher, Michael Scharf, from Purdue University.

"When cockroaches develop immunity to many levels of insecticide, it means that in the future the process to control pest population with only chemicals will almost be impossible" Michael continued as quoted from Live Science.

In an experiment, when a cockroach exposed to toxins could survive, its baby will immediately show signs of immunity. One of the cockroaches in the lab was even seen consuming poison as a form of food. According to researchers this study is a warning about better management of pest control. The process of eliminating cockroaches should not only rely on chemicals but also by improving sanitation in your home.
