Batik from Kuantan Singingi will be introduced in national exhibition

News24xx.com - The batik from Kuantan-Singingi (Kuansing), Riau has become more popular among the civilians recently. But it still needs to be introduced to the larger community in order for it to be more popular nationally and internationally.

For that reason, Cooperative Trades and Industrial Office of Kuansing work together with Regional National Craft Council (Dekranas) Riau to wear clothes made of batik Kuansing during the exhibition held by Dekranas in October 2019.

“During the national exhibition that is participated by all cities and regencis in Indonesia, the people at the stand will wear batik from Kuansing,” said the Head of Kuansing’s Cooperative Trades and Industrial Office, Azhar, on Friday.

He said that the step was instructed by the Head of Cooperative Trades and Industrial Office of Riau for them to wear Kuansing’s batik during the exhibition. Among the motives they will wear are Jalur, Calempong, Cipuik Ba Irining, Perahu Baghandung, Pendayung and Paku motives.

They already held training for batik painters recently. They also plan a program called “Kampung Batik” or “Batik Village” in the future.
