News24xx.com -  Wings Air, a subsidiary of the Lion Air Group, is set to launch a new route from Manado in North Sulawesi to Morotai in North Maluku on Sept. 22.

According to a statement, the service will initially be available three times a week, on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

The IW-1180 flight will depart from Sam Ratulangi International Airport in Manado at 6:40 a.m. local time and land in Leo Wattimena Airport in Morotai at 9 a.m.

Meanwhile, the return IW-1181 flight is scheduled to take off from Morotai at 9:20 a.m. on the same day and arrive in Manado at 9:40 a.m.

The service will utilize ATR 72-500 or ATR-72-600 aircraft that can accommodate 72 economy seats.

Wings Air is said to be the first and only airline to connect the two regions. The service is expected to complement the carrier's operational Manado-Ternate-Morotai route.

Both Morotai and Manado boast breathtaking underwater panoramas and picturesque beaches. The latter is especially famous for its Bunaken National Marine Park.
