SIAK-Siak Regional Secretary TS Hamzah officially opened the 2019 Serindit Boat Race event which was marked by the beating of Tambur with the Chairperson of Siak Parliament, Riau Tourism Head, Deputy Chairperson PB Podsi on Thursday night (11/14/19).

The Serindit Boat Race event held in 2019 is a sport tourism event that has become an annual tourism calendar agenda as the Tour de Siak Event, which has been officially recorded on the UCI organization's calendar. As many as 45 participating teams took part in the 2019 Serindit Boat Race event, including those from abroad.

Like countries from Malaysia, and Brunei Darussalam. For participants coming from within the country namely Jambi Province, West Pasaman Regency, Agam Regency, Bekasi City, Pelelawan Regency, Tengerang Regency, Riau Province, Pekanbaru City, Bengkalis Regency, Indragiri Hulu Regency, and Indragiri Hilir Regency.

"And a number of our pride teams from Siak Regency as the host team," he said.

On the opening night of the Serindit Boat Race event, the Regional Secretary of Siak District T. S Hamzah said, the purpose of the Serindit Boat Race event was intended as supporting the promotion of Siak Regency tourism as a tourist destination with the theme "Heritage, Culture, and Nature".

"Through this 2019 Serindit Boat Race, we hope that the existence of the deepest river in Indonesia with its strong historical value in the past, can be increasingly widely known both nationally and internationally," said Hamzah.

T.S Hamzah also explained briefly about the historical value of the River which was also known as the Male River as part of an inseparable part of the Sri Indrapura Heritage Area, because it had been a witness to the historical maritime glory of the Sri Indrapura Sultanate of Siak in the past.
