Selasih Pelalawan Regional Hospital Handles Three Patients with Malnutrition

PELALAWAN - In the last 2 months, 3 cases of malnutrition have appeared in Pelalawan District. Namely Fikri Kurniawan, a 3-year-old boy from Langgam Subdistrict, became the third victim.

Previously, in October, Nurasiah, a toddler from Mentawai who lives in the Sector Base Camp was known to suffer from malnutrition. Then at the beginning of November 2019, Alif Hafiz Pratama from Kerumutan District became the second sufferer.

Head of Nursing at Selasih Hospital, Ramdhani Kamal, said that Fikri Kurniawan was more than 3 years old, from the Sukaramai Hamlet in the withdrawal village of Langgam sub-district. His father is a construction worker and his mother is only a housewife.

"Since last Friday, Rifki entered the Selasih Hospital. Cared for in a children's specialist room. Handled by Pediatrician Hendri Sutapa and a team of nutritionists," Dhani said when contacted Riau24.com, Tuesday (11/19/2019).

From the initial examination added Dhani, his side found a weight of around 9 kg, low HB, low protein and distended stomach.

"From the weight, low HB and low protein, we verdict Fikri suffering from malnutrition," said Dhani.

The Hospital of Selasih immediately gave maximum treatment to Fikri. Blood transfusion 3 times, protein / albumine and NGP infusion.

Fikri's condition has not been so stable until now. RSUD Selasih will be able to win this poor boy maximally.

"We continue to observe. If within 2 days there has been no change, we will take further action," added Ramdhani Kamal.

Moreover, the condition of the bulging Fikri's stomach could not be handled, due to limited equipment.
