Chairperson of the JKPI Presidium Alfedri Invites 70 Heritage City Governments to Attend the 2020 National Working Meeting in Siak

SIAK-JKPI as a heritage organization of a city center with a diversity of natural and / or cultural heritage (tangible and intangible), has the same interest in preserving heritage as the basic capital for regional development in the future, as the main essence of the establishment of the Indonesian Heritage City Network Organization ( JKPI), more than 11 years ago in the city of Solo, precisely on the 25th of October 2008.

This was conveyed by the Chairperson of the Indonesian Heritage City Network Presidium (JKPI) held by Siak Alfedri Regent, in his remarks at the opening of the 2019 Pre-National Working Meeting held in Ambon City, as many as 70 districts and city government members of the JKPI member gathered in the City that was just designated by UNESCO as the City Music of the World, to discuss the efforts of local governments to preserve heritage.

"The establishment of the JKPI at the time, coincided with the momentum of the holding of the European-Asian Heritage Organization Conference and Exhibition, which was being held in Surakarta City, at the initiative of the Minister of Culture and Tourism Ir. Jero Wacik, and 12 heirloom regional heads including the Indonesian President, Mr. Joko Widodo, who at that time were still the Mayor of Solo, said Alfedri.

Chairman of the JKPI Presidium, Regent Alfedri also said, the main purpose of the establishment of JKPI, among others, is for the purpose of developing cooperation between heritage cities and then developing it into forms of collaboration with stakeholders. In addition, JKPI also encourages the active role of the community in preserving heritage, inventorying the inheritance of wealth, strengthening the identity of the Republic of Indonesia, and serving as a means of promoting the Heritage City of JKPI Members.

"On behalf of the Chairperson of the JKPI Presidium, I invite all JKPI members to be able to further enhance the role of the regional government and to be more active in working together to advance the JKPI region and organization, in accordance with the noble ideals of the organization, namely maintaining and preserving the values ??and buildings of cultural preservation, in addition to heritage intangible culture, "he appealed.

The Pre-National Working Meeting was held as well as a form of preparation for the upcoming National Workshop on the JKPI National Assembly and Heritage City Festival in the upcoming Siak City of Sri Indrapura, by formulating important and strategic points of discussion to be discussed and decided upon in the implementation of the 2020 National Working Meeting in the State of the Palace.

"As the host of the National Working Meeting and the 2020 Heritage City Festival in Siak Regency, of course we really expect the presence of ladies and gentlemen of all regional heads, to be able to attend to witness the series of activities," he said.

A number of activities will be carried out along with the implementation of the JKPI Rakernas 2020 in Siak, including the Night Gala Dinner in the Dutch Tangsi Complex Mempura, Susur Siak River and Waterfront City, Sungai Jantan harbor, Opening Night at the Siak Beradah Stage, Choir Performances and Music Groups from Ambon City, International Cultural Parade, Siak River Festival, International Seminar on the development and preservation of heritage and culture, archipelago ancient manuscript exhibitions, bazaars and cultural arts performances.
