News24xx.com - Extreme winters are starting to bring out something unique in Florida. Namely, food raw materials made from iguana meat.

Some traders decided to sell iguana meat on the Facebook Marketplace after the reptile was frozen and fell from a tree. Yes, due to a drastic drop in temperature, many dead iguanas are found.

In order not to die, some traders decide to sell iguanas. Starting from skinned iguanas, which were slaughtered to those without heads. Because the meat tasted like chicken meat, iguanas began to be dubbed 'tree chickens'.

One post advertises a newly prepared garrobo. Garrobo is a name often used in Latin America for iguanas. The ad sells iguana meat for $ 1.

Weather experts say because iguanas are cold-blooded, they freeze or become immobile when temperatures drop below 45F.

As a result, biguanas appear to fall from the sky, to the road, cars, ponds, or even people walking around.

This poses a risk to humans and property because iguanas are not small creatures. An adult male iguana can grow up to 5 feet in length and weigh up to 20 pounds.

But, for some people, the phenomenon of the fall of the iguana is an opportunity for a delicious dinner.

In fact, the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agriculture Sciences offers a number of recipes for iguanas, including one for iguana tacos.

Frank Mazzotti, professor of wildlife ecology at the Fort Lauderdale UF / IFAS Education and Education Center in Davie, Florida, said the meat was delicious.
