News24xx.com - The Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) Rengat sent a team to Petala Bumi Village, Seberida District, Inhu Regency to check the alleged Sumatran tiger footprints in the village, Friday, March 13, 2020 morning.

When the Rengat BKSDA Team descended to the location accompanied by the Village Head of Petala Bumi, Subani went to RT17 of Sukajadi Hamlet, the location where the trail was found. Mentioned, the trail began to blur (lost) a little due to being crossed by the vehicle since yesterday evening until this morning.

Kades Petala Bumi, Subani said, that the Rengat BKSDA Team had come down to check. But the trail began to break down, because its location is in the middle of the village shaft.

"Only one location was checked. Then it was developed into another trail. After the discovery of the trail, residents continued to move as usual. Although the discovery horrified the villagers, their activities were not interrupted," explained Subani.

Zulkifli, Chief of the Forest Police (Polhut) BKSDA Rengat Resort Pekanheran confirmed that the Rengat BKSDA Team descended to the location of the alleged footprints of the tiger feet.

"We have already checked the alleged tiger tracks on the village road and also the palm oil plantation area owned by residents," said Zulkifli.

He said, that the width of the trail found at the location reached 9 centimeters. When referring to these traces, it is suspected that the tiger is already an adult.

For this reason, he appealed to local residents to increase their vigilance and not engage in activities at night.

"We will discuss the results of the review. In the future the team will plan the installation of camera traps at the discovery site," he said.

He said, last week it also received reports from residents about the discovery of the Sumatran tiger footprints in the village of Sekip Hilir, Rengat District.

"Our team together with Babinsa Desa Sekip Hilir, has come down to check the location of the discovery of Sumatran tiger traces in Sekip Hilir Village. It looks like the traces found in Petala Bumi Village with those in Desa Sekip Hilir, are still the same tiger footprints," he explained.

Zulkifli added, there was a strong suspicion that the Sumatran tiger had indeed crossed Sekip Hilir Village and then headed to Talang Jerinjing Village, Rengat Barat District and then entered Petala Bumi Village, Seberida District.

"Our guess is that the tiger is located in Berapit Hamlet, Sibabat Village, Seberida District. It is suspected that the Sumatran tiger habitat is in Sungai Arang Hamlet, Pangkalan Kasai Village, Seberida District. It is possible that the tiger was passing through, wanting to return to its habitat," beber Zulkifli.

According to Zulkifli again, that the Sungai Arang Hamlet area was still within a small forest area. So that it is still possible to become a habitat for Sumatran Hariamau.
