UberAir - a new project of a flying taxi from Uber

News24xx.com - A special subdivision of the company Uber is working now on a contract to develop a full-fledged flying taxi. The Subdivision called Uber Elevate currently negotiates with two major players in this field.

It is Technical University of Austin and the US Army, who agreed to help the company in developing such a unique model of VTOL-taxi. VTOL means a flying vehicle with a vertical take-off and landing type, which means a potentially more efficient passenger type vehicle.

At the same time, the company plans to open official public tests of its new flying taxi already by 2023 - the first flight tests are scheduled in Los Angeles and Dallas. At the moment, it is known that a team of engineering specialists from the Technical University in Austin, Texas, is actively working on the development of a new rotary technology, which should form the basis for a new air taxi. Thus, a project called Uber Air has already been put into production.

A new Uber model of a flying taxi can accelerate from 150 to 200 miles per hour with an average flight altitude between 1,000 and 2,000 feet above the ground. And given the availability of VTOL-concept, the maximum speed will exceed the declared.

It is expected that we will see the first ready engineering model before the end of 2019, but at the same time, some analytical publications on the network indicate that Uber will take more time than originally planned.
