Her income came not only from her films, but also from advertisements she starred in. In 2015, Time magazine claimed her as the most famous star in China.
 

Then where is Fan Bingbing right now? There are many speculations regarding the disappearance of Fan Bingbing. She vanished after the news of her getting involved in tax fraud. Some people thought that she went missing to escape from the law.
 

However, there is also speculation that Fan Bingbing was kidnapped by China’s Communist Party for political reasons. This speculation was mentioned by CNN once in an article. The actress once posted photos of her, visiting a children hospital in Tibet. Meanwhile, China is governed by communist regime which is known to be sensitive when it comes to Tibet.
 

“If you are a billionaire in China, you can enjoy everything. But you have to be really, really careful not to cross the red line or something, and deal with Chinese Communist Party,” said Fergus Ryan, a cyber analyst in Australian Strategic Policy Institute.
 

This is not the first time a famous person disappears in China. In 2011, Chinese artist Ai Weiwei was also arrested for 3 months and imprisoned in a place whose location is still not clear. Ai Weiwei was known to be very vocal about his humanism criticism toward China’s government. He was later released with the same issue: tax fraud.
