The World Hockey Championship in 2023 will be held in St. Petersburg

News24xx.com - The International Ice Hockey Federation decided to entrust Russia with the holding of the World Cup in 2023. The world championship in the main group of world hockey will be held in St. Petersburg, presumably in late April - early May.

"Everything has been decided, agreements have been reached between the three federations," said Roman Rotenberg, First Vice-President of the FHR, quoting the website of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation. "The 2023 World Cup will be held in St. Petersburg, 2024 in the Czech Republic, and 2025 in Sweden."

The world championship was last held in Russia - in Moscow and the same St. Petersburg - in 2016 and then it was won by hockey players of Canada. The nearest tournaments will be held in Slovakia (2019), Switzerland (2020), Belarus, Latvia (2021) and Finland (2022).
