The research shows that sleeping and waking up at the same time every day is a healthier lifestyle.

A new study from Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina, United States, has found that the benefits of sleep are not only for children, but also for adults. 

The researchers had been studied the sleep patterns of nearly 2,000 adults who wore a sleep tracking devices for seven days.

The results show the regular sleep time keeps their heart and metabolism more healthy. 

People who go to bed at irregular times are more at risk of being overweight, have high blood sugar and high blood pressure. They are also more likely to experience a heart attack or stroke than those who have regular sleep patterns.

Researchers believe that sleep have a linkages for heart health and metabolism influence each other. 

But they are not sure whether it is sleep loss can caused the weight gain, or vice versa.

"With our further research, we hope can to understand what happens as biologically," said Jessica Lunsford-Avery, the study's lead author of Duke University Medical Center.
