News24xx.com - Mutiara SIS Al-Jufrie Airport is being rebuilt after the great earthquake that shook Palu. The priority is the terminal. In two weeks, the emergency response team has cleaned up most of the areas in the terminal of Palu Airport.

The coordinator of Palu Airport renovation, Budiyanto Setiawan said that the areas that had been cleaned up and can be used again are departure lounge, check in counter, arrival area, airlines office at the first floor and parking area for arrival. “The cleaning up of the airport has moved to the second floor and we plan to finish it by Wednesday,” Budiyanto said in a statement, Sunday, October 15th.

The chunks of stones that hung dangerously on the ceiling of the airport have been removed. The location was right above the baggage claim area, which would be dangerous for people. Meanwhile, the emergency response team is fixing the electricity system of the airport. They are doing feasibility test at the moment.

For the structure, the columns of the building that had collapsed are strengthened. He explained that the renovation has gone faster as the access to the delivery of materials needed for it becomes easier. “We try to get the terminal to function optimally as fast as we can.

The process is now supported by Angkasa Pura I and Airnav regarding the materials delivery from Makassar and Balikpapan. We use the air transportation because the land transportation takes quite a long time,” Budiyanto said.
