News24xx.com - Currently PlayStation 4 is still Sony's mainstay in the world of game consoles. But Sony seems to have begun to work on the successor of PS4. PS4 was launched by Sony in November 2013. So far no true successor is launched - there is only PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro.

Nearly 5 years after the birth of PS4, Sony apparently had begun to explore the appearance of PS4 successors. "At the moment all I can say is about the importance of having next-generation hardware" said Sony President and CEO, Kenichiro Yoshida in an interview with the Financial Times.

As quoted from Polygon, Wednesday, October 10th 2018, Yoshida did not elaborate on the name of the console so there is no further information on whether PS4 will be PS5 or not. There is also no information about the date Sony will release their new console. But in May, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, John Kodera indicated that the latest PlayStation console will be launched at least appear in the next three years.

"We will use the next three years to prepare to make the next steps; so we can jump higher in the future" Kodera said at the time.
