News24xx.com -  In 2017, more than 450 million people in the world suffer from diabetes. A healthy lifestyle can help prevent type 2 diabetes. The results of two recently published studies reveal how.

In studies using mice, researchers at Toho University's Graduate School of Medicine in Japan found that losing just one night or six hours of sleep was able to increase the risk of Type 2 diabetes.

The group of sleep-deprived mice had a much higher blood sugar level, and triglyceride production in the liver also increased. Triglycerides are fats associated with insulin resistance, a characteristic of diabetes.

In addition, lack of sleep causes changes in liver enzymes that are responsible for regulating liver metabolism.

The results show that sleep deprivation is clearly a risk factor for diabetes.

Therefore, a good sleep routine is important to prevent diabetes in people with increased risk.

A daily dose of wheat or rye can also reduce the risk of developing diabetes.
