News24xx.com - Malissa Clark from University of Georgia defines workaholic as "an inner drive to work that makes someone feel they are always 'supposed to' work". She calls those who workaholic always feel anxious or guilty when they don't work, constantly thinking about work and often overtime.

What is the difference between someone who works hard with someone who is workaholic? "It depends on the motivation. Some people work hard because of external factors, for example in need of money. If someone works hard because they love the job, it's called work engagement. But if they work because they feel they should work, it's just a hard work " said Dr. Clark, quoted from ABC Net.

Some studies show that perfectionist tends to be a workaholic. And also tends to work for a long time, aka overtime. Dr. Clark said that there is no connection to being a workaholic with better productivity, and as many people thought, it also does not make you happier. One study about those who are a workaholic revealed a connection with negative outcomes for themselves, their families and their health in general.

If you feel yourself becoming addicted to work, maybe you can try ways to eliminate the behavior. For example, by limiting yourself from checking email before and after of working hours or making Sunday a digital detox day to keep you from work-related activities and also exposure to digital screens.
