News24xx.com - Obesity rates continue to rise, so the government in the UK is asking for pizza and fast food restaurants to limit calories in their food. Especially for pizza and salty pies that are the favorite menu of visitors. Public Health England (PHE) held a meeting with representatives from the food industry on Tuesday and Wednesday.

They discussed calorie reduction programs at fast food restaurants in UK, including coffee shops and pubs. Reporting from Metro, October 12th 2018 a calorie reduction program was carried out, because it saw high obesity rates in children aged 10 to 11 years in UK.

More and more Children suffered obesity, British Government should take a firm act. "This is the beginning of a calorie reduction program, but the food industry has the responsibility to do it" Dr. Alison Tedstone, chief nutritionist at PHE.

Children who suffer from obesity, on average, consume 500 more calories per day than recommended. One third of elementary school graduates are obese. Therefore PHE limits calorie intake in foods in fast food restaurants. Based on the proposal, the standard calorie pizza for one serving is no more than 928 calories and for salted pie no more than 695 calories. PHE hopes that this program will become a commitment for the food industry, including people who make, sell and deliver food.
