Afghan parliamentary council candidate assassinated with a bomb explosion in his office

News24xx.com - A candidate member of the Afghan parliamentary council, Abdul Jabar Qahraman, was killed by a bomb planted under the seat of his office in Helmand, on Wednesday, October 17th 2018. "A bomb was planted under the seat of the Qahraman campaign office. We are still investigating this incident" Governor Helmand spokesman Omar Zwak said.

Besides Qahraman, at least seven other people who were near the bomb exploded were reportedly injured. Shortly after this incident occurred, Taliban militants claimed to be the mastermind of the planned assassination of Qahraman.

Qahraman himself is preparing to take part in the general election next Saturday. He is a tenth candidate who has been killed in the past two months. Two other legislative candidates were kidnapped, while four candidates were wounded by militant attacks. Meanwhile, 22 residents were reported killed while attending a campaign in Takhar Province last week.
