News24xx.com - For the first time in history, a woman became the leader of the largest command of the United States armed forces. Laura J. Richardson again carved a history in the military after being appointed to be the leader of the US Armed Forces Command (FORSCOM).

Before leading 776 soldiers and 96,000 civil servants on FORSCOM, Richardson had broken the records in the US military several times. Richardson joined the US Army in 1986. In 2012, she became the first deputy commander for the 1st cavalry division, usually known as the "American Main Unit."

In 2017, Richardson became the second person under the command of General Robert B. Abrams, when she was appointed to be FORSCOM's first deputy female commander in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. She then took over when Abrams stepped down from office, making Richardson the first woman to become a commander in the unit.
