News24xx.com -  The latest diving "Belgorod" planned to be completed in 2018 is designed to carry out scientific research missions under the sea.

The 09852 'Belgorod' nuclear-powered research submarine is predicted to be the largest submarine in its class. Based on its size and weight calculations, the submarine will overtake Project 941 'Akula' missile submarine on the Guinness record list.

The 'Belgorod' submarine is designed to carry out scientific research missions under the sea. This submarine is equipped with submersible (underwater vehicles), bathyscaphe, and special scientific devices.

The submarine was able to study the Russian Arctic sea floor reliefs, search for mineral content in the depths of the sea, and become an underwater communication point.

'Belgorod' was designed based on the 'Antey' Project 949A nuclear submarine form which was not completed. In the past, the 'Antey' submarine was built in the Soviet Union in response to the spread of US aircraft carriers in the world's oceans.

Now, after undergoing a reconstruction process, the size of the submarine "Belgorod" has increased to 184 meters. Thus, 'Belgorod' will be 11 meters longer than the submarine ‘Akula’ which is considered the largest submarine in the world.
