Highly secured, India inaugurated the highest statue in the world

News24xx.com - India inaugurated the world's tallest statue on Wednesday, October 31st 2018 with tight security amid protests from certain community groups. The statue of the 182-meter-long Indian independence hero was inaugurated by Prime Minister NarendraModi.

As reported by AFP on Wednesday, October 31st 2018, a performance of fireworks, folk dances and a sprinkling of flower petals colored the inauguration of the statue of SardarVallabhbhai Patel, the hero of Indian independence. This statue is named as 'Statue of Unity'.

PM Modi cited the moment of completion of the construction of the statue as 'a day that will be remembered in Indian history'. The fighter jet airs above the statue and a collection of rose petals is dropped from the helicopter that airs above the head of the statue. PM Modi praised Patel's 'strategic thinking' in uniting a divided India after independence in 1947.

With a height of 182 meters, the statue is recorded as the highest statue in the world today. That height is double the Statue of Liberty in New York and higher than the Spring Temple Buddha Statue in China which has a height of 128 meters. While the Garuda WisnuKencana statue in Bali has a height of 130 meters.

The statue consisting of 100 thousand tons and steel and was built for four years and spent INR 29.9 billion. The funds were taken from state money. About 3,500 workers were involved in the construction.
