News24xx.com -  In order to reduce the number of empty buildings that are increasingly piled up, the Japanese Government plans to distribute empty buildings in its country for free.

In addition to providing free housing, the government will also offer funds for the renovation of the property.

Quoting Travel and Leisure on Thursday (11/22), there are at least eight million abandoned homes throughout Japan that will be sold at very cheap prices until they will be distributed free.

The houses became neglected due to natural disasters and the decline in population figures in the region.

However, there is also news that says mystical and superstitious matters are often the reason for residents to leave the houses.

With a fairly bad situation and inherent stigma, it is difficult to sell a house at a normal price instead of being a consequence.

Not to mention, as many as 70 percent of the population in big cities like Tokyo now choose to live in apartments.

A technology consulting company in Japan, the Nomura Research Institute (NRI), predicts the number of abandoned houses can continue to increase to 21.7 million units by 2033.

This figure is almost one third of the number of houses in Japan.

"If this continues, perhaps restrictions on new construction must be carried out. But it can have a major impact on the economy," said Wataru Sakakibara, senior consultant at NRI.
