News24xx.com - Prohibition of using wifi - wireless internet network - in stalls in a village in Aceh were protested by a number of coffee shop owners and some young people in the village.
Since mid-November, the village leader of CureeBaroh, Bireuen District, Aceh, has banned the use of wifi in stalls in the village because it is considered "damaging to the younger generation especially children."

"Children have not recited, now they are negligent in the stalls, even some of them use wifi to watch porn videos," said Village Chief CureeBaroh, Helmi to reporters in Aceh, Hidayatullah who reported for BBC News Indonesia on Monday (11/26).

However, this decision was questioned by some young people and a stall owner in Cureeh Baroh Village.

"I strongly disagree and the conditions that have been issued by Pak Geuchik (village head)," said AzkanNisa, a local villager.

According to him, the existence of wifi instead brought closer distances to be close, even able to broaden the horizons of children.

"If the reason for wifi is making children lazy to recite, it goes back to the supervision and education provided by parents to children," he told reporters in Aceh, Hidayatullah, Monday (11/26).

"Wifi is technology, all circles today use the network to make things easier," he added.
The same thing was also expressed by SyahrialSagier, who is also a local villager. He considers the concerns of village leaders about the 'impact' of wifi on children too much.

"The reason is if children want to watch anything, it doesn't have to be with wifi, but it can still be done using data packages," Syahrial said.

"In fact, this ban has an effect on stall owners looking for sustenance," he added.
