News24xx.com -  Mo Salah soccer star also spoke up regarding Egypt's plan to export wild cats and dogs abroad because they feared the animals would be used as food.

"The cats and the dogs must not be exported anywhere. It will not happen and cannot happen," said the False in an upload with a photo with his Siamese cats.

Animal rights activists reacted, they were angry at the decision and many of them called for the practice to end.

Cats and wild dogs do roam the streets of Egypt a lot.

This debate began with the decision of the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture which last week approved the export of around 4,000 cats and dogs abroad.

On Wednesday, the Egyptian newspaper al-Masry al-Youm said the ministry began issuing health certificates to begin the export process for around 2,400 cats and 1,600 dogs.

A day later, a ministry spokesman told the Egyptian television channel TenTV that the animals had been vaccinated and would be flown according to legal procedures.

But the authorities did not explain to which countries the animals were sent, or for what purpose.

The spearhead of Liverpool's Egyptian club Mo Salah, which is popular in his home country and throughout the Middle East region, plunged into the debate over the export of dogs and cats on Tuesday, scribbling hashtags "animal rights must not be violated."
