At present the trend that is being carried out by the community in selling through a digital base And this makes BPOM confused to do its job.

 

For example, few times ago in the East Java region, sales of Derma Skin Care (DSC) cosmetic products through digital channels were quite massive. Moreover, the product uses celebrities as their marketers.

The sale of cosmetic products utilizes the public figure as an endorser who is described as having used the benefits of the product in question. This sales model is prevalent in the digital era which is the impact of disruption in buying and selling, including beauty products.

 

"BPOM seems to stutter in seeing changes in the pattern of sales of medicinal products, including food, which occurred in this digital era. Cosmetics, medicine and food stores, are no longer found in outlets that can be reached by BPOM, storefronts of these products are now marketed through digital facilities" said Member of the House of Representatives Commission IX, Okky Asokawati, and reported by sindonews on Sunday, December 9th 2018.

BPOM must improve itself to follow the trend of society with changes in the supervision model of medicinal and food products. Especially in products that almost the majority have been done through digital. Good through social media platforms, including in the online market place.

 

"BPOM's Call Center has not been able to answer the needs of the times. BPOM must create a system that is easily accessible to the public in terms of managing BPOM permits through digital facilities. And also BPOM must establish a digital-based surveillance system" he said.
