Study said that movie that used women as main protagonist is more profitable on Hollywood nowadays

News24xx.com - A study released recently stated that films that have female star stars in 2014-2017 have world box office income greater than those using the man as main star. Studies conducted by the Creative Artists Agency and Shift7 technology companies state that female star-rated films have greater profit performance in all classes of production costs.

The research was conducted to find out more about the impact of the Time's Up social movement that occurred in Hollywood in 2017. "This is strong evidence that the audience wants to see anyone represented on the big screen" said lead researcher who is also producer and former Sony Pictures Chief Amy Pascal.

The study examined 350 high-income films released between 2014 and 2017. The films are then divided into several categories based on their production budget. These categories are: under USD 10 million, USD 10-30 million, USD 30-50 million, USD 50-100 million, and more than USD 100 million.

To indicate that the film is the main star of women, a number of criteria are set, namely the actress must be listed as the main star in the movie poster billing block, media broadcast, or the final credit of the film. The research report also stated that films with global box office revenues of more than USD 1 billion actually passed the Bechdel test.
