News24xx.com - Sandstorms hit Cairo and several port cities in Egypt. Thick dust made several ports have to be closed. Reporting from Reuters on Thursday, January 17th 2019, pedestrians were forced to take a shelter in buildings to take refuge when dark clouds descended to Cairo. They use masks to protect themselves from the sand blowing by the wind.

 Not only that, many car drivers also complained of reduced visibility when driving on the highway and out of town. "The air color changes. There is a kind of fog. No one can see. So I hope God will protect, considering we are riding motorbikes" said a motorcycle driver, Mahmoud.

Sources at Cairo Airport said the storm had caused some flights to experience delayed. The Red Sea Port Authority closed the port of Suez and Zeitiyat at 14.00 local time due to bad weather, wind and high waves.
