In fact, if the 30 minutes were replaced with moderate to severe intensity exercise, the risk of early death was lower by 35 percent, which concluded, if you sit less and move more, you will live longer. "If you change your sitting time by 30 minutes with moderate intensity physical activity such as relaxing in the hallway, it can reduce your risk of getting disease" said researcher Keith Diaz who is a professor at Columbia University Medical Center, quoted from CNN.

This result was obtained after researchers analyzed data from 7,999 people aged 45 years or more. Their activities were tracked from 2009 to 2013. Researchers then analyzed the data if sitting time was replaced by physical activity.

Researchers found that changing sitting time by moving or even exercising provided benefits for health. However, the results do not apply if you only reduce sitting time to be less. New benefits will be felt if the sitting time is replaced by moving.

"We went deeper into the data to try to understand: why people who do exercise for every 30 minutes have a lower risk of death. That's because they have more opportunities to move" Diaz said.
