This Chinese model regrets starring on controversial Dolce & Gabbana ads that destroyed her career

News24xx.com - The Chinese model presented in the controversial advertisement Dolce & Gabbana which accused of racism apologized for her involvement. She claimed that the advertisement really destroyed her career. The Italian luxury fashion brand was forced to cancel its fashion show in Shanghai and apologize to Chinese people after a series of advertisements called 'eating with chopsticks' were considered racist.

The advertisement featured an oriental-faced model in a Dolce & Gabbana gown that looked overwhelmed when it was about to eat a large cannoli. She tried to eat the cannoli with a pair of chopsticks. It was Zuo Ye, the model in the controversial ad that recently wrote an apology on Weibo.

Zuo revealed that she questioned the director but was not given details before filming. "I was only told that this would be a social video and that it would involve Italian food. Everyone in the photo shoot spoke Italian. Only the director spoke to me in English when he gave me instructions" the model wrote as quoted from South China Morning Post.

The model graduated from South China Agricultural University was then ordered to use chopsticks again for pizza and pasta. "Because of respecting and trusting the brand, I failed to consider the consequences after the video was published. I apologized for not understanding and I will take this incident as a lesson" Zuo wrote.
