Prince Charles and Camilla will be the first royal family members to visit Cuba

Prince Charles and CamillaPrince Charles and Camilla - During a visit to U.K. Supreme Court, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, revealed that she and her husband, Prince Charles, would make a historic visit to Cuba.

There had been no member of Britain’s royal family that had visited that country ever since Fidel Castro established it as a communist country in 1959. Charles and Camilla would break that tradition.

“The President of the Republic of Cuba called upon The Prince of Wales at Clarence House,” a court circular noted, as cited from Town & Country.

Clarence House had not confirmed the visit yet. But Camilla had said to Baroness Hale, the President of the Supreme Court, that she and Charles would visit Caribbean and Cuba.

“[Camilla] is very much looking forward to going to Cuba. It will be quite an event for members of the royal family to visit Cuba. She said she loved the music and was interested in the architecture. And she did make a remark about she wasn’t so sure about the food,” Lady Hale said, as cited from Town & Country.

The royal trips are managed by U.K. Foreign Office. No British Prime Minster had set foot on Cuba. But after Barack Obama’s historic visit to the country in 2016, it seems that Britain is trying to do the same.
