News24xx.com - In the case of the brutal murder of Scandinavian tourists in Morocco, 13 people have already been arrested. The attack is suspected supporters of a terrorist group IG.

On December 17, the bodies of two girls were found in the Shamgarush area on the way to Mount Toubkal, Morocco’s highest peak, which is popular with tourists. According to the Moroccan police, one of those killed was cut in the throat and the other was beheaded.

Louise Jespersen, a 24-year-old Dane, and Maren Uland, a 28-year-old Norwegian, arrived in Morocco on December 9 to travel around the country.

“What was supposed to be a vacation trip turned into a nightmare. Many points to the fact that this murder was committed for political reasons and is a terrorist act. It fills me with anger and disgust”, - said the head of the government of Denmark, Lars Lokke Rasmussen.

The last time the girls were seen in a hostel in Marrakesh, before they went hiking in the Atlas Mountains.

Shortly after the murder, a video shot on a mobile phone appeared on the Internet, in which can see how one of the blondes slit the throat alive with a sharp knife in one minute. Danish security services are currently studying the video.

Three murder suspects were detained on Thursday morning, December 13, in Marrakech, from where they tried to take a bus to the resort Agadir. These are shepherds aged 25 to 33 years. They had machete type knives with them.

The authorities of Morocco, together with the Norwegian National Criminal Investigation Service (NCIS), believe that the murder is associated with a radical Islamist group that has sworn allegiance to the terrorist group IG.

Until now, in comparison with other countries of the Arab Maghreb zone, Morocco has been considered a fairly safe state. The last known case of terrorist attacks on tourists occurred in April 2011, when an explosion in a restaurant killed 17 people.
