Mariah Carey mistook The Chainsmokers for One Direction

News24xx.com - Mariah Carey had an awkward meeting with The Chainsmokers during an award show. She mistook them for One Direction.

The singing duo, consisting of Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart, recalled their meeting with the famous female singer during an interview in The Morning Mash Up. While they knew who they were meeting, Carey mistook them for another group.

“We met Mariah Carey this one time... I remember seeing her and I was like, oh my God, ‘Fantasy’ and ‘Honey’. And she was like, ‘Dude, I love you guys.’ And we were like, ‘Wow, you know who we are?’ She was like, ‘One Direction, right?’” Pall recalled while laughing, as cited from E News.

After seeing the clip of the interview with The Chainsmokers, who talked about their awkward meeting, Carey commented jokingly.

“@TheChainsmokers of course I know you!! I love your song ‘that’s what makes you beautiful’!” she said on Twitter, referencing One Direction’s hit song.
