Indonesian internet user only grows 4% in last year


IllustrationIllustration - The growth of Indonesian internet users in 2018 is predicted to be not too significant compared to the previous year. For 2018 it is estimated that the growth in the internet users in Indonesia is only 4%. Indonesian Internet Service Provider Association (APJII), which annually reports the number of internet user has completed the survey. It is hoped that the 2018 internet user survey can be released at the end of March 2019.

The Chairperson of APJII, Jamalul Izza, predicts that compared to 2017, internet users in 2018 only growth around 3-4%. For information, based on the 2017 survey, there are 143 million people who are connected to cyberspace in Indonesia. "The increase is less than 5%, about 3 to 4% increase in my opinion" Jamalul said in Jakarta on Wednesday, February 20th 2019.

Jamalul said that the spread of 4G by cellular operators has not touched all Indonesian people. The number of internet users is also mostly among young people, where their parents don't really need an internet connection.

However, Jamalul revealed, the Indonesian people will be increasingly touched by the internet in 2019. Because, all telecommunications infrastructure or precisely the fast internet access network has spread evenly throughout the country.
